Charges filed against 2 area postal workers

The U.S. Attorney's Office has filed federal charges against two area U.S. postal employees.

Mary Weyer, 52, of 228 East Wallace St., Findlay, a clerk at an Elida post office unlawfully issued herself money orders before later paying the money back, according to Tom Secor, an assistant U.S. attorney. The charge is a felony, he said.

Dawn Stone, 28, of 309 Spencerville St., Hicksville, faces a charge for misappropriation of postal funds. Mr. Secor said Ms. Stone is accused of taking $428 from the post office she worked at in Edgerton. The charge is a misdemeanor.

Both women had bills of information filed against them rather than being indicted by a grand jury.
