A group of juveniles who attacked a 58-year-old man during an attempted robbery yesterday on Bancroft Street were chased down and arrested by Toledo police, with help from the U.S. marshal s service.
Agents from the marshal s service were doing surveillance work about 3:45 p.m. when they saw five boys repeatedly punch a man in the 1300 block of Bancroft as they tried to take his bicycle.
The agents and police in the area gave chase. Two were caught after a short distance. A third youth was arrested at 1429 Pinewood Ave. The three, including one who was 16 years old and another 13, were charged with delinquency in connection with robbery.
The victim told police the group began following him and taunting him, saying, Hey, give us that bike when they saw him riding near Elmwood and Sylvan avenues.
Detectives said they obtained names of two other juveniles and were searching for them. The injured man did not require hospital treatment.
