It was a bit of a blowtorch, Toledo Fire Chief Mike Bell said. He said wind coming off the river helped to spread the fire.

Thick clouds of smoke could be seen from downtown Toledo, and explosions caused by power lines could be heard in the area.

Chief Bell said it took about two hours to get the fire under control, and the power was cut off in the area for the rest of the afternoon as firefighters continued to work on the scene.
