SANDUSKY - Two Toledoans were arrested yesterday shortly after a credit union in Margaretta Township, just west of here, was robbed, Erie County sheriff's deputies said.

A man and a woman entered the Erie Community Federal Credit Union about 3:15 p.m. and demanded money. They said they had a weapon, but none was seen, deputies said.

They fled after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, but didn't get far.

Within 15 minutes, the suspects were picked up on Venice Road, less than three miles from the credit union, by troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Sandusky post.

Daneka M. Higgs, 21, of 814 Cherry St. and Maurice Moore, 35, of 1510 Nebraska Ave. were each charged with aggravated robbery. Mr. Moore also was charged with tampering with evidence. They were being held in the Erie County jail.

No weapon was found, but the money was recovered, deputies said.
