Two Emmanuel Baptist High School students were charged yesterday for starting a Dec. 16 fire that caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage at the school, canceled classes, and contaminated classrooms with mercury.
The two 16-year-olds were each charged in Lucas County Juvenile Court with delinquency in connection with of arson, a felony. They were to be issued summons to appear in court.
The students admitted to setting the fire, school administrators and authorities said.
The fire caused about $400,000 in mostly smoke and water damage to the school at 4607 West Laskey Rd. About 200 milliliters of mercury were spilled during the incident.
