ADRIAN - A former Lenawee County sheriff's deputy has been arraigned in Circuit Court on 51 fraudulent check charges.

Timothy Holtz, 48, of Adrian is accused of stealing the identities of two men to create the checks, which he is accused of using to purchase about $10,000 worth of goods.

A trial date has been set for Feb. 28.

Holtz currently is serving a prison term after being found guilty of similar charges last year in Washtenaw District Court, Ypsilanti, Mich.

He was employed 26 years as a deputy before leaving the force last year after the Washtenaw County charges emerged.
