Toledo police yesterday released a sketch of a man who cut another man on the chin with a sharp object during an unprovoked assault last month in the Old West End.

Edward Hoffman, 60, of the Old West End, was cut from the chin to neck area during the assault about 2:30 p.m. June 17 at Robinwood Avenue and Bancroft Street.

According to police, the wound required 30 stitches to close.

The victim told police he was driving his pickup down Robinwood and stopped at Bancroft, driving a little over the crosswalk.

He saw the pedestrian and realized his vehicle protruded partially into the crosswalk.

The man walked up to the victim's truck, asked him to put down the window, and asked for the time of day.

As Mr. Hoffman checked the time, the assailant cut him and fled, police said.
