8/27/2006

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the chest early yesterday in a West Toledo area that was the scene of another serious shooting outside a private bar about six months ago.

Christian Snow-Veley was taken to Toledo Hospital, where he was in serious condition, police said. A hospital spokesman said she had no information on a patient by that name.

Police responded to a weapons call at the corner of Central Avenue and Isabella Street about 3:50 a.m. At the scene, police were directed a block south to Isabella and Jermain Drive, where the boy was on the sidewalk.

Detectives said yesterday that the case remained under investigation and declined to give information about the shooting, except to say that they did not have any suspects.

The incident is believed to be gang-related.

On Feb. 5, police were at Toledo Hospital on another call when Farrell T. White, who was 32 at the time, was taken there because of a gunshot to the head. Witnesses said they saw a disturbance outside a private bar near Central and Isabella about 4 a.m. and heard a gunshot, according to a police report. They circled back to the area, found the man on the sidewalk, and drove him to the hospital, the report read.

Police declined to say if yesterday s incident was connected with the bar or any other incident.
