Perrysburg police have identified a Monroe County man wanted on a charge of robbing a woman of her purse Sept. 5 at a Speedway gas station on U.S. 20 in Perrysburg.

Michael J. McLean, 36, is accused, along with an unidentified man, of wrestling away a woman's purse and slamming her against a car, which upgraded the charge from theft to robbery, a second-degree felony. Perrysburg police said Mr. McLean, if convicted, could be sentenced to two to eight years in prison and fined up to $15,000.

Mr. McLean is 5-foot-8 and 155 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. His last known address was in Temperance.

A warrant for Mr. McLean's arrest was issued Saturday.

According to a police report, the suspects fled in a teal 1994 Toyota Corolla with Ohio registration DORAN that had been reported stolen from Swanton the day before.

The two are believed to have committed a similar offense in Bowling Green earlier the same day. They are believed to have used credit cards they took from the purses at numerous locations in northwest Ohio.

Anyone with information is asked to call Perrysburg police, 419-872-8001, or the Wood County Crime Stopper program, 419-352-0077.
