Police to watch over UT during football opener

9/15/2006

Toledo and University of Toledo police officers will be at tonight's UT football game against the University of Kansas to make sure students and guests don't disrupt nearby neighborhoods after the game, officials said.

UT police Chief Jeff Newton said although partying will be allowed, underage drinking and disorderly conduct will not be tolerated.

Toledo police Chief Mike Navarre said officials know it's a big game as the season's home opener, but asked that students be considerate of fellow students, neighbors, and guests.

City and university officials also encourage students to be responsible and respect residents in nearby neighborhoods.

The Rockets host the Jayhawks at 8 p.m. in the Glass Bowl.
