ADRIAN - A Lenawee County man accused of severely beating his 25-year-old girlfriend at their Madison Township residence has been arrested, Michigan State Police said.

Cavoni Tindall, 18, of 1497 Parr Hwy. was charged with assault with intent to murder, unlawful imprisonment, intent to deliver/manufacture methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana. He was ordered held in the county jail in lieu of $555,000 bond.

Mr. Tindall allegedly trapped his girlfriend in a bedroom on Saturday, threw her around the room, and kicked and punched her all over her body. The beating was interrupted by a knock at the front door, which the suspect answered. The victim escaped through the back door to the house of a neighbor, who called police, authorities said.

Mr. Tindall fled before police arrived and was arrested Monday at a relative's house in Jackson, Mich., authorities said.

The victim was admitted to Bixby Medical Center, Adrian, in critical condition for treatment of internal injuries and multiple bruises and lacerations.
