MONROE, Mich. - A retired auto worker will be arraigned here this morning in front of First District Court Judge Terrence Bronson on a charge of open murder.
Gordon Gene Dotson, 65, of Newport, Mich., stabbed his wife of nearly a half-century, Betty Ann, after she had threatened to divorce him in an argument over his spending habits, said Monroe County sheriff's Detective Sgt. Enrico "Rick" Galimberti.
Mrs. Dotson, 65, suffered multiple stab wounds.
Sergeant Galimberti said Mr. Dotson ran from his home to a neighborÂ’s home about 2:30 p.m. Friday saying he'd returned home from errands and found his wife. She was found in the living room of the couple's Maurice Court home, authorities said.
"His hands were covered in blood. He said his phone was missing," the sergeant said. Investigators questioned Mr. Dotson and he was taken into custody about 2 a.m. Saturday.
The couple have four children together, the sergeant said.
He released few other details, saying "There's a lot more work we have to do on this."
