A Toledo man was arrested early yesterday after he was accused of leading police on a high-speed chase in South Toledo and western Lucas County before crashing at Garden and South Crissey roads in Springfield Township.

Steven Kennedy of 212 South Ave. was charged with felony fleeing and eluding police and a number of traffic violations, police said.

Mr. Kennedy was accused of speeding off when a Toledo police officer attempted to stop him for a traffic violation about 2:50 a.m. on Arlington Avenue in south Toledo.

The officer turned on the cruiser s lights and siren and chased the vehicle, which a short time later struck a vehicle at Airport Highway and South Holland-Sylvania Road in Springfield Township. No injuries were reported, Toledo police said.

The chase continued to the intersection of Garden and Albon Road in Monclova Township, where Lucas County sheriff s deputies joined in the pursuit. A short time later, the Kennedy vehicle crashed at Garden and Crissey, where Mr. Kennedy, who was not hurt, was taken into custody, officers said.
