MONROE A Monroe woman remained in the Monroe County jail yesterday after being arraigned on five charges, including two felonies, stemming from an incident Thursday in which a city police officer shot twice into her car.

Melissa Folmar, 24, who was being held in lieu of $50,000 bond, was charged with one felony count each of fleeing and eluding and assault with a dangerous weapon. She also was charged with misdemeanor counts of larceny of less than $200, malicious destruction of property under $200, and assault and battery.

Police originally responded to a domestic violence report shortly before noon Thursday and witnessed Ms. Folmar driving away at high speed, authorities said.

In the moments that followed, Ms. Folmar drove into a parked patrol car and allegedly was preparing to ram it again when Cpl. Kent Jeppesen fired his handgun twice into the windshield of the vehicle. Ms. Folmar drove away and was apprehended a short time later when police pinned her car between a patrol car and a tree, authorities said.
