Ottawa County sheriff plans operational talks

11/26/2007

PORT CLINTON - Operations of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, ranging from the annual budget to policies and procedures, will be open for discussion during special sessions set for residents in the eastern and western portions of the county.

Residents living in eastern Ottawa County can attend an operational review meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Danbury Township Hall, Marblehead. The meeting for residents in the west end is set for 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at First Federal Bank, Genoa.

A system by which cell phone calls now can be tracked through 911 calls will be explained, according to Sheriff Robert Bratton.

The county has a large number of tourists who might not know their locations when they call 911. Through a mapping system, the caller's location can be pinpointed. If a caller is unable to talk, the location of the caller still can be determined.
