Man wanted for several store robberies gets arrested

The person sought in armed robberies of four South Toledo businesses was arrested Monday night soon after striking again in Springfield Township, Toledo police said.

Jermaine Smiley, 23, 3909 Airport Hwy., has admitted to "several robberies," police said. Charged with five counts of aggravated robbery, he was being kept in the Lucas County Jail early Tuesday morning pending arraignment later in the morning at Toledo Municipal Court.

A man matching his description robbed a Dollar General store on North McCord Road near Nebraska Avenue about 9 p.m. Monday, police said.

A short time later, a Lucas County sheriff s deputy saw the man in the 1100 block of Brookview Drive near Airport Highway in South Toledo. The man was then arrested after a gun was found in his vehicle, police said.

Officers said a man of the same description also robbed the following businesses, all during daylight hours and using a handgun:

Dollar General, 4250 Airport Hwy., on Aug. 27.

Dollar General, 2857 Airport Hwy., on Sept. 2.

Star Beauty Supply, 48 South Byrne Rd., on Tuesday.

the Kwik Trip carryout at 4230 Airport Hwy. Saturday.

Police said they had the man s description from viewing videos from security cameras and from victims accounts.
