Oregon police shot and wounded a man who had fired a gun at them Sunday morning.

Officers were called to Piccadilly East Apartments, 2750 Pickle Rd., just after 5 a.m. on a report that two men — who turned out to be brothers — were fighting.

When the police arrived, one of the men, identified as Jeff Belew, shot at the police officer and struck his vehicle at least twice.

The man was shot once by an officer when he refused to drop his weapon.

The suspect was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

The officer who shot the suspect was placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation, police said.
