City crews early Thursday were demolishing what was left of a North Toledo duplex after a fire of a yet unknown origin all but destroyed it overnight, authorities said.

All occupants of the four-family duplex at 2802 Mulberry St. had escaped unhurt by the time fire crews arrived about 12:55 a.m. and saw flames coming from the two-story wood frame structure, according to the Toledo fire department.

It took firefighters four hours to extinguish the blaze, with the last crews leaving the scene at 4:56 a.m.

The duplex was a total loss, a fire dispatcher said.

The American Red Cross of Greater Toledo Area assisted the occupants with accommodations.

The Lucas County Auditor’s Web site lists Stuntman Housing LLC and Stephon Holcomb as the owners of the duplex.
