By breaking through walls, thieves broke into seven businesses in a South Toledo shopping center either late Sunday or early Monday, according to police.

A Jimmy John’s employee called police around 6:40 a.m. Monday to report that someone broke two holes into the walls and pulled a safe off of the floor into the office, authorities said.

When police arrived at the shop at 3002 Glendale Ave., across the street from Walmart, they noticed that seven business locations — four of which are occupied — were broken into.

Verizon Wireless, Lady Jane’s Haircuts for Men, and Star Diner were also broken into.

The businesses’ employees have not yet reported any loss; Lady Jane’s and Verizon were not yet open when police were on scene.

Toledo police Lt. David Schmidt said these types of break ins are happening more frequently.
