A man in his 30s was arrested Wednesday night in Toledo and accused of robbing a 69-year-old Bedford Township man who had just returned home from an area poker room earlier in the night, authorities said.

The victim, whose name was not released, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Toledo Hospital for treatment. The suspect, whose name was being withheld pending arraignment, was arrested without incident a short time later and booked into the Lucas County jail pending extradition, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The older man was assaulted and robbed of $1,200 in one hundred dollar bills about 10:28 p.m. Wednesday, as he arrived at his residence in the 1100 block of Mapleway Drive.

A Monroe County sheriff deputy then saw the suspect fleeing the scene in a black pickup truck and followed it into Toledo, where Toledo police made the arrest. Officers searched the pickup, recovered the cash, and seized a knife they had found in the vehicle, according to police reports.

The incident remained under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 734-240-7558.
