A 36-year-old Toledo man was being held Wednesday night in the Lucas County jail after police say they saw him drinking a beer when they pulled over his vehicle on a central-city street.

Officers arrested and charged Montrese Riley of 1107 Tecumseh St. with drug abuse, child endangering, trafficking in drugs, open container, driving without a license, not wearing a seat belt, and failure to stop at a stop sign, according to court documents. The man's 17-year-old son was in the car, police report.

A Toledo Municipal Court judge Wednesday ordered Riley to be held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.

Court documents state he was stopped by police officers in the 2200 block of Sanford Street just before 3 a.m. When police stopped the vehicle, they stated the suspect was drinking a beer and reportedly had 1.9 grams of cocaine.
