Toledoan arraigned on murder, assault charges

A Toledo man is in the Lucas County jail after he was arraigned Monday on murder and felonious assault charges and ordered to be held in lieu of $1.2 million bond.

James Sutton IV, 21, of 2642 Christie St. is charged with the April 15 shooting death of Torian Tall, 25, who was shot behind a Valero gas station in the 3300 block of Monroe Street.

He also is charged with two counts of felonious assault for allegedly shooting into a crowd in the 100 block of South Byrne Road on Feb. 19, striking Brent Cook, 24, and Dennis Garrett, 20.

The suspect was arrested April 20 in Eau Claire, Wis., and extradited to Ohio. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Toledo Municipal Court May 17.
