Woman, 77, suffers 2nd home invasion

For the second time in a week, two men kicked in the door of a 77-year-old North Toledo woman’s home and stole her television. Flora Shirey, of the 1300 block of Moore Street, was sitting in her front living room early Tuesday when two men wearing ski masks kicked in the front door of her home and ripped a 52-inch television from a stand.

Police had no suspects and were still investigating that incident when, at 2:40 a.m. Saturday morning, two men again kicked in her door and stole another television. This time, the men also assaulted another person at Ms. Shirey’s home, according to police reports. The only other person who lives with her is her 57-year-old son, who has cerebral palsy.

Additional information about the burglary and assault was unavailable. Police spokesman Joe Heffernan did not return a call about the incident Saturday.
