Police identify victim shot in central Toledo

Toledo police have identified the victim of a shooting today in the 600 block of Fernwood Avenue.

Authorities say Patrick Cortez, age unavailable, of 1023 Norwood Ave., was taken to Toledo Hospital by private vehicle. He was hit in the left leg with a non-life threatening injury.

When police arrived on scene shortly after the 12:30 p.m. incident, there was no victim there, but investigators found a 9 mm round in the street.

Police said Mr. Cortez had claimed to be in the Monroe and Auburn area, but police believe he was actually shot in the 600 block of Fernwood.
