A 15-year-old girl was killed in Monroe County when the car she was riding in went out of control and crashed into a median guardrail, Michigan State Police said.
The vehicle, driven by a 19-year-old, was northbound late Tuesday on I-75 just north of Newport Road. The 15-year-old was thrown from the rear seat onto the roadway and died at the scene. The driver and two other passengers in the vehicle sustained minor injuries, police reported.
The accident occurred about 11 p.m. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, officials said. The 15-year-old was not wearing a seat belt.
