Arson blamed in East Toledo fire

Toledo firefighters have confirmed arson as the cause of a fire that damaged the house at 707 Parker Ave. Friday night and are investigating arson in connection with two early morning fires.

Lt. Matt Hertzfeld, public information officer for the city fire department, said the Parker fire in East Toledo occurred at 11:30 p.m. and caused an estimated $7,500 damage, most of it to the outside. The home was occupied but no one was at home.

At 3:30 a.m. firefighters were called to 1471 Western Ave. where they found heavy fire in the rear of the structure. A fire investigator was called. The home was built in 1902 and is owned by Jeremy Clinton Provo, according to the

Lucas County auditor’s Web site. Lieutenant Hertzfeld said damage was estimated at $30,000. The building was occupied but no one was home.

At 3:55 a.m. firefighters were called to a vacant dwelling at 804 Palmwood Ave. Damage was estimated at $3,000 on the house that was built in 1877 and is owned by Theresa Gabriel. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
