2 teens shot in central Toledo

Two 17-year-olds were shot this afternoon in central Toledo in what one victim described as a drive-by shooting.

The shooting occurred about 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Ewing and Vance streets in central Toledo. One of the victims, shot in the foot, told police that two people drove by in a full-sized white van with no windows and the passenger opened fire. The driver had something pulled over his face, said Toledo police Sgt. Bill Wauford.

After being shot, the teens ran to Yummies Too restaurant/carryout at 801 Nebraska Ave. and police and rescue crews were called. They were transported to Toledo-area hospitals with what authorities described as non-life threatening injuries.
