A Toledo man died today when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a turning pickup on Garden Road east of Kenmore Road in Springfield Township.

Dennis J. Garn, 65, of Toledo was transported from the scene by Springfield Township EMS to the University Of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Mr. Garn was driving a 2005 Harley-Davidson eastbound on Garden Road at about 2:45 p.m., when a 2001 Ford F-150 driven westbound by Ramiz A. Bcharah, 56, of Maumee, attempted to turn left into a private drive and struck Mr. Garn’s motorcycle on the left side.

The motorcycle overturned and Mr. Garn was ejected onto the sidewalk, authorities said.

Mr. Bcharah and a right front passenger in the pickup, Ramiz S. Bcharah, 17, of Toledo, were not injured.

Mr. Garn was wearing a helmet, according to troopers.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, Springfield Township EMS, and the Springfield Township Fire Department.

Alcohol is not suspected. The crash remains under investigation.
