A Findlay man whose body was pulled from the Maumee River in downtown Toledo died of drowning, authorities said today.

Dr. Diane Barnett, a Lucas County deputy coroner who conducted the autopsy, said there was no apparent evidence of foul play in the death of Robert Brennan, 59. But without witnesses to the drowning, it was unclear whether the death was accidental, she said.

A crew from the Toledo Fire Department’s water rescue unit recovered the body around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday near Water Street and the Martin Luther King, Jr., Bridge after an employee of the Grand Plaza Hotel, 444 N. Summit St., saw something floating.
