A 20-year-old man was arrested today for allegedly shooting a man in South Toledo.

Christopher Webb, of 537 Elmdale Ave., is charged with felonious assault, trafficking in drugs, and drug paraphernalia. He is to be arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court on Wednesday.

Police allege in court documents that Mr. Webb shot at Charles Howe III, 19, about 12:15 a.m. today in the 100 block of Eldred Avenue.

Mr. Howe was hit at least once in the abdomen and taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio. A spokesman said they had no information about a patient by that name.

A Toledo police report states that the victim was outside in front of his home when a vehicle, “driving erratically,” stopped in front of the victim.

A witness told police that one man got out of the vehicle with a baseball bat; the victim then pulled out a gun, according to a police report.

Another witness said the two argued, but police said they don’t know what the conversation was about.

The suspect got back into the vehicle and, as the car drove off, at least one person, possibly the driver, fired four times.

Police reported finding drugs and paraphernalia at Mr. Webb’s home at the time of his arrest.
