Maumee resident, 56, injured during crash that closes part of Anthony Wayne Trail

A 56-year-old Maumee resident was taken to the hospital today after a crash that closed part of the Anthony Wayne Trail during rush hour.

A car was traveling southbound on White Street near U.S. 24 in Maumee about 7 a.m. when it was struck by a semi truck traveling westbound on U.S. 24. The driver of the car was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio, with unknown injuries, according to Maumee police. Neither the name nor sex of the driver was released.

The Anthony Wayne Trail was closed in both directions between Key and Gibbs streets in Maumee but was re-opened at 8:04 a.m., Maumee police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
