Man shot during robbery attempt

A man was shot in the abdomen during an apparent robbery attempt in central Toledo Friday night, police said.

Jonathan Fuller, 20, of West Toledo, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. A hospital spokesman said there was no information about a patient by that name. Toledo police Sgt. William Wauford said that the injuries did not appear life-threatening.

Mr. Fuller and several others were at a home in the 600 block of Highland Avenue about 8:45 p.m. when three or four males walked through the door tried to rob the group. One of the intruders fired a handgun. But it did not appear they took anything, Sergeant Wauford said.

Witnesses described one suspect as a black male, 5-feet, 2-inches tall, who was last seen running away between houses.
