A body found Monday in a drainage ditch in Ash Township, in rural Monroe County, has been identified as a Flint, Mich., woman, who has been missing for nearly two weeks, Michigan State Police from Flint confirmed today.

According to police reports, Tanisha L. Colton, 27, was last seen the afternoon of March 13 after leaving her place of employment in Flint. During the investigation, police discovered that the victim’s vehicle had last been seen in the Toledo area in the early morning hours of March 14.

The case is still under investigation, First Lt. Matt Bolger said today.

The incident is being treated as a homicide, Lieutenant Bolger said. A “person of interest” is in custody, but nobody has yet been charged with Ms. Colton’s death, he added.

An autopsy was scheduled for today by the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office. Results were not yet available late this afternoon.
