Tennessee man in jail after drugs found in car during I-75 stop

A Tennessee man is being held in the Wood County jail after troopers and a Rossford police dog found drugs in his vehicle.

Brandon Hackett, 27, of Chattanooga, Tenn., is charged with two counts of trafficking in oxycodone and possession of oxycodone, trafficking and possession of oxymorphone, possession of alprazolam, trafficking in alprazolam, five counts of trafficking in hydrocodone, and five counts of possession of hydrocodone.

Troopers reported that the suspect was stopped for following too closely to another vehicle on I-75 at 12:45 a.m. today. A Rossford police drug-sniffing dog indicated there could be drugs in the vehicle and a search found 372 hydrocodone pills, 149 alprazolam pills, 89 oxycodone pills, and 95 oxymorphone pills.

The drugs -- 704 pills in all -- are worth an estimated $17,000.

If convicted, Mr. Hackett could face up to 45.5 years in prison and up to a $92,500 fine.
