BOWLING GREEN — The Wood County Sheriff’s Office has stepped up patrols during prom season, using a grant from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office, Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn announced.

The traffic enforcement blitz began last week and will continue through May 31, the sheriff said.

It will concentrate on moving violations that are leading factors in fatal crashes, including driving under the influence of intoxicants, speeding, and failure to yield, he said.

“There will be zero tolerance for driving under the influence and seat-belt violations,” Sheriff Wasylyshyn said in a statement.
