A woman was seriously injured today in an apartment blaze in South Toledo near Swan Creek Preserve Metropark, just north of Airport Highway, authorities said.

Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld, Toledo fire department spokesman, said the woman was in critical condition at the University of Toledo Medical Center, formerly the Medical College of Ohio. Her name was not released.

Lieutenant Hertzfeld said fire crews rescued the woman from a fire at 1164 Pinebrook Parkway near Rainswood Drive, to which they were called about 4:20 a.m.

Firefighters reported finding the victim in a back bedroom of Apartment 102, according to the fire department. They brought the fire under control at 4:41 a.m. and extinguished it by 6:37 a.m., at which time they left the scene.

The Lucas County auditor's Web site lists Greenview Gardens Ltd. of Bedford Heights, Ohio, as the owner of the two-story apartment complex, which was built in 1981. It has 76 apartments.
