Fire critically injures South Toledo woman


A South Toledo woman was seriously injured in a fire early Wednesday in her apartment, authorities said.

Karalyn Mullings, 29, was listed in critical condition Wednesday afternoon at the University of Toledo Medical Center, formerly Medical College of Ohio Hospital, after the fire at 1164 Pinebrook Pkwy. reported at 4:20 a.m.

Firefighters reported finding her in a back bedroom of her apartment. The fire, which Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld said started accidentally on a kitchen stove, was brought under control in about 20 minutes and extinguished two hours later. Damage was estimated at $8,000.

Lucas County land records show the 76-unit apartment complex near Swan Creek Metropark as belonging to Greenview Gardens Ltd. of Bedford Heights, Ohio.
