I-475 westbound has re-opened after a multi-car crash earlier today closed the expressway for hours. The crash involving a tractor-trailer rig and at least one car on westbound I-475 just west of Corey Rd. in Sylvania Twp. closed the expressway at the Talmadge Road exit, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Two people were injured and taken to Toledo Hospital and ProMedica St. Luke's Hospital, respectively, although names and conditions of the victims were not released.
The crash occurred about 7:40 a.m., with one person extricated from the debris. The injuries did not appear to be life threatening, a dispatcher at the patrol's Bowling Green post said. Traffic in westbound lanes of the expressway had been forced to exit the expressway at Talmadge Road, the dispatcher said. Traffic was backed up from east of Secor Road heading westbound.
The crash remained under investigation.
