Motorcyclist killed as vehicle strikes utility pole in Hancock Co.

VANLUE, Ohio -- A 25-year-old man was killed early today after he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a utiltily pole along a rural Hancock County highway, authorities said.

Timothy E. Moore, Jr., of Carey, Ohio was pronounced dead at the scene on State Rt. 568 east of State Rt. 330 in Amanda Township, the Hancock County Sheriff's Office reported. Deputies were called to the scene at 3:12 a.m.

According to investigators, Mr. Moore was travelling eastbound when he lost control for reasons unknown, left the roadway's north side, and struck the pole. He was thrown from the motorcycle as it rolled several times.

The crash remains under investigation, Sgt. Mike Cortez said later today. Assisting at the scene were Dick's Towing, the Vanlue Fire Department, and Hanco EMS.
