A fire destroyed an apparently unoccupied house in Toledo's Old South End early today, authorities said.

There were no reported injuries, according to the Toledo fire department.

Fire crews arrived about 6 a.m. and found the house at 810 Western Ave. fully engulfed in flames, a fire dispatcher said. Firefighters attacked the flames and brought the blaze under control by 6:26 a.m., the dispatcher said.

The 1 1/2-story wood frame house was a total loss but the damage estimate wasn't available, she said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Lucas County auditor's Web site lists Christopher Bates as the owner of the single-family house. It was built in 1907.
