Toddlers wounded by gunfire out of hospital

Two toddlers wounded by gunfire at the Greenbelt Place Apartments were out of the hospital Thursday.

Doctors at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center found a bullet fragment lodged near the ribs of Yealaysia Williams, 1, according to police reports. Kaiejah Williams, 2, suffered a graze wound to her left arm.

Both girls were outside 722 Walnut St. when the shots were fired Wednesday night. One Toledo police officer reported hearing at least eight shots.

No arrests have been made and a motive has not been established.

A witness told police a man in a black hooded sweatshirt and red sweatpants was seen fleeing the scene, although it was not known if the man was involved in the shooting or was running from the gunfire.
