Toledo police issue arrest warrant for shooting at illegal after-hours club

An arrest warrant was issued today for a Toledo man accused in an early-morning shooting.

Anthony C. Smith, 27, of 2221 Auburn Ave., is charged with one count of felonious assault for allegedly shooting Vincent Pittman, 38.

Police said the victim escorted the suspect out of an illegal after-hours club at 2345 Pelee St., off of Dorr Street, at about 3:40 a.m.

The suspect reportedly went to his car to retrieve a 45-caliber handgun, which he is accused of using to shoot the victim, police said.

Police said the victim remains at Toledo Hospital "with a bullet lodged near his heart."

A hospital spokesman had no information about the patient.

The suspect is described as a black man, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 150 pounds, black hair, and brown eyes.
