An Oregon automotive materials factory was evacuated for several hours today when insulation caught fire in a machine that produces it.

The fire at the Autoneum plant on North Lallendorf Road was reported about 10:30 a.m. Firefighters tackled "a lot of smoldering and a lot of smoke" within a line of machines in the plant said Paul Mullen, an Oregon assistant fire chief.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters were at the plant until mid-afternoon, extracting the insulation from the machines.

Chief Mullen did not have an estimate of loss.

Autoneum, a Swiss company, has facilities around the world, according to its Web site.
