Head trauma kills man hunting mushrooms

BASCOM, Ohio — A Fostoria man found injured while mushroom hunting died of head trauma, police said.

Kyle Tanner, 24, of Fostoria died Saturday at Mercy Tiffin Hospital after he was found by a friend with whom he had been hunting mushrooms in Hopewell Township.

Sgt. Kevin Reinbolt, of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, said authorities believe the death was accidental, caused by a fall or something hitting him on the head in the wooded area.

Seneca County Coroner Mark Akers did not return calls for comment.
