The man who attempted suicide while in custody of Perrysburg Township police has been identified as Scott Robertson, 41, of South Vienna, Ohio.
Perrysburg Township Administrator Walt Celley today provided the name and said the man's family has been notified. He said that, as far as he knew, Mr. Robertson remained in Toledo Hospital.
The incident occurred Tuesday at a Perrysburg Township police holding cell at the police station in the 26600 block of Lime City Road between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m..
The victim was being held on suspicion of theft and assault, according to information from Mr. Celley earlier this week.
The man was treated by the Perrysburg Township EMT's and fire department and transported to St. Luke's Hospital before being transported to Toledo Hospital.
Mr. Celley said earlier said the man was found unconscious during booking.
The investigation into the attempted suicide has been turned over to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification.
