HURON, Ohio -- Seven Toledo residents were injured when a tire blowout caused a shuttle bus to crash and overturn today on State Rt. 2 in Erie County's Huron Township, affecting the eastbound traffic, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Daniel Trumbull, the driver whose age was unavailable, and passengers in the bus --  Donald Buinion, 62, Jane Schick, 37, Yolanda Backlund, 48, Sue Wielinski, 50, and Linda Miller, 58, all residents of Josina Lott Residential Community and Services in Toledo, and Nancy Spitulski, 52, an employee of Josina Lott,  were taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, according to the patrol's post in Sandusky. A hospital spokesman said all were treated and released.

"The guardian angels were looking over them today," Michael Malone, the Josina Lott executive director said this afternoon. " We are very lucky that that was the outcome. They are all on their way home even as we speak."  They were going to Vermilion, Ohio, for a picnic, Mr. Malone said.

The 2002 Ford E350 transportation bus was driving east on Route 2 just west of Rye Beach Road about 11:13 a.m.  when the left rear tire blew out, the patrol said. The bus began fishtailing, ran off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail, and overturned, troopers said.

All occupants of the bus were wearing seat belts, according to the patrol.

The crash closed the eastbound lanes of Route 2 for about 45 minutes, troopers said.

Huron is about 65 miles southeast of Toledo.
