TIFFIN — Two Bloomville, Ohio, brothers died today in a two-vehicle crash in Seneca County's Reed Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol is reporting.
The crash occurred at about 2:20 p.m. on Township Road 79, near the intersection of Township Road 8.
A 2000 Chevy Cavalier operated by Phillip L. Bollinger, 17, of Bloomville, was traveling northbound on Township Road 79, and failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection, according to authorities.
A second vehicle, a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer operated by William Bartley, 47, of Republic, was traveling eastbound on Township Road 8, and struck Mr. Bollinger's vehicle. After impact, Mr. Bollinger's vehicle traveled off the northeast edge of the roadway and struck a tree.
Mr. Bollinger, as well as a 15-year-old passenger identified as his brother, Dillon Bollinger, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. Three passengers in Mr. Bartley's vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries. Troopers said seat belts were used by all involved in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
