A Toledo man is in critical condition tonight after authorities said he was struck by a pickup while crossing an intersection earlier in the day.

Raymond Lutzke, 56, was transferred to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with "critical injuries to his head" after the 9:20 a.m. incident, authorities said. A hospital spokesman said late today that he was in listed in critical condition.

Police said Mr. Lutzke was crossing North Erie Street at Madison Avenue when he was hit by a Ford F-150, driven by Richard Thompson, 67, of Toledo, police said. Mr. Thompson was turning left onto Erie from Madison.

No charges have been filed and the crash remained under investigation.

At witness at the scene said Mr. Thompson had a green light to turn, but that the pedestrian-crossing signal indicated Mr. Lutzke had the right-of-way.
