A Toledo man who assaulted and restrained a woman in her home was sentenced Thursday to 11 years in prison.

Major McCormick, 39, of 1710 Belmont Ave. entered an Alford plea to and was found guilty April 8 in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to felonious assault and abduction for the Dec. 26 incident in which he struck the victim on the head, choked her, pulled out a clump of her hair, and threatened to kill her.

Judge Ruth Ann Franks said the case was “eerily similar” to a 2003 incident for which McCormick spent seven years in prison.

“The facts surrounding this case are absolutely violent and frightening,” Judge Franks said after hearing the victim recount what happened to her.
