8-year-old dies after crash in LaSalle Township
6/4/2013MONROE - An 8-year-old died Monday after a two-vehicle collision on Telegraph Road in LaSalle Township.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Amanda Russell, 26, of Toledo, was driving a 2011 Ford Focus northbound on Telegraph Road, when her vehicle struck a 2008 Chrysler Town and County mini-van that was traveling eastbound on Wood Road. The mini-van was driven by Sue Black, 60, of Monroe. Authorities said the mini-van stopped at a stop sign on Wood Road and crossed Telegraph Road when the collision happened.
Ms. Russell and three passengers, ages 4, 7 and 8, were transported to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. The 8-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital. Ms. Russell and the 4-year-old and 7-year old were listed in stable condition, according to the sheriff's office.
The names of the children were not immediately available from the sheriff's office. The condition of Ms. Black was also not available.
The crash remained under investigation.
